[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation, which produces and sells Jeju Samdasoo, is stepping up support to strengthen the cold wave response capabilities of vulnerable groups.

Jeju Development Corporation announced on the 4th that it participated in the 'Cold Wave Impact Vulnerable Group Support Project' held at Seo-gu Office in Daejeon Metropolitan City on the 2nd and provided about 1,150 bottles of Jeju Samdasoo Green (2L).

This project, organized by the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Climate and Environment Network, is conducted twice a year to minimize damage to households vulnerable to climate change such as heatwaves and cold waves and to enhance climate change adaptability.

The delivery ceremony was attended by related organizations and sponsoring companies, including Lee Kyungho, director of Jeju Development Corporation, Yoo Jecheol, vice minister of the Ministry of Environment, Lee Ugyun, executive representative of the Korea Climate and Environment Network, and Seo Cheolmo, mayor of Seo-gu, Daejeon. At the event, attendees recognized the situation of the climate crisis and pledged to work together to support vulnerable groups.

On the same day in Jeju, a donation ceremony for 'Disaster Safety Health Kits' for disaster-vulnerable groups was held at 10 welfare centers in collaboration with the Community Chest of Korea. Disaster-vulnerable groups refer to socially disadvantaged people who are easily affected by risks that can become disasters or have difficulty recovering from damage. The disaster safety health kits were created to help neighbors who have difficulty preparing for emergencies such as climate change or fires.

Kim Jeonghak, president of Jeju Development Corporation, said, “Since prolonged exposure to cold and dry winter weather can lead to dehydration and health risks, sufficient water intake is important. We will actively reach out to places in need and fulfill the social responsibility of the ‘national bottled water’ brand.”
