[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] As the resurgence of COVID-19 slows down, 46,000 new cases were reported on the 4th.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on this day, 46,564 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed, bringing the total to 27,308,090. The number of new cases decreased by 6,297 compared to the previous day (52,861 cases).
Compared to a week ago on the 27th of last month (47,010 cases), the number decreased by 446, showing a slowdown in the increase of cases. Compared to two weeks ago on the 20th of last month (45,996 cases), it is 568 cases higher.
From the 28th of last month to this day, the daily new cases for one week were 22,313 → 71,461 → 67,402 → 57,069 → 52,987 → 52,861 → 46,564, with a daily average of 52,951 cases.
Among the newly added cases today, 69 were imported cases, 14 more than the previous day (55 cases). Domestic community transmission cases were 46,495.
Number of cases by region (including imported cases) are: Gyeonggi 12,853, Seoul 8,526, Incheon 2,708, Busan 2,454, Gyeongnam 2,455, Gyeongbuk 2,373, Daegu 2,327, Chungnam 1,918, Daejeon 1,467, Chungbuk 1,615, Jeonbuk 1,826, Jeonnam 1,442, Gwangju 1,704, Gangwon 1,142, Ulsan 883, Sejong 465, Jeju 359, Quarantine 47.
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized is 460, an increase of 18 from the previous day (442). The number of critically ill patients has not dropped below the 400s for more than two weeks since the 19th of last month. The intensive care unit bed occupancy rate as of 5 p.m. on the 3rd is 32.3% (522 out of 1,618 beds in use).
The number of deaths on the previous day was 60, an increase of 12 from the day before (48). The cumulative number of deaths is 30,729, with a fatality rate of 0.11%.
