[Seoul District News] Geumcheon-gu Hosts Joint Festival on December 2 to Support Project Success and Provides Consulting, Certification Training, Internships, and Job & Cultural Arts Experiences for Out-of-School Youth's Independence
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) has been conducting the ‘Insaeng Ne Cut’ project for out-of-school youth in collaboration with the Geumcheon-gu Youth Support Center Dream since April.
The ‘Insaeng Ne Cut’ project (hereafter Insaeng Ne Cut) supports the psychological and economic independence of out-of-school youth by providing various experiences and education such as trendy vocational training. It was selected as a resident participation budget project last year.
As the name suggests, Insaeng Ne Cut is divided into four detailed programs: ▲Career and independence consulting ‘Maeum Han Cut’ ▲Support for qualification acquisition and out-of-school youth internship activities ‘Baeum Han Cut’ ▲Support for various job and cultural/art experiences ‘Seongjang Han Cut’ ▲A joint festival to share and encourage achievements so far ‘Haengbok Han Cut’.
‘Maeum Han Cut’ offers consulting programs for career and independence, including career exploration and strength tests, job counseling by type, self-introduction and interview coaching, and employment photo shoots. ‘Baeum Han Cut’ supports acquiring certificates in fields of interest such as computers, sports, and culture/art, as well as internships in desired industries.
In ‘Seongjang Han Cut,’ out-of-school youth experience preferred jobs and engage in various cultural experiences to broaden their views on occupations and cultivate cultural sensitivity.
On December 2, the Geumcheon Youth Center small theater hosted the festival ‘Haengbok Han Cut’ to conclude Insaeng Ne Cut. To share and reflect on the results of the year’s efforts, out-of-school youth-related organizations in Geumcheon-gu held exhibitions, story booths, and experience booths together.
Additionally, an awards ceremony for outstanding youth and youth performances were held to encourage the youth for the year and support their future lives.
Song O-jun, a youth who participated in the project, said, “It was confusing and difficult when I reached an important time before entrance exams and entering society, but through the program, I gained confidence in my career path.”
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I support all the youth who have worked hard throughout the year to achieve their dreams,” adding, “We will continue to actively support out-of-school youth who find their own paths in ways other than school to have new experiences and achieve what they want.”
