[Seoul District News] Seongdong-gu to Hold Moa Town Second Half Resident Briefing on the 6th

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) announced that it will hold a Moa Town residents briefing session at 10 a.m. on the 6th in the large auditorium on the 3rd floor of Seongdong-gu Office.

This briefing session is the second residents briefing held by Seongdong-gu and is designed to help about 200 residents interested in Moa Town understand the project and provide information on future progress. Residents interested in the Moa Town system can participate on the day of the event.

Moa Town is a project under the name of Seoul City's ‘Small-scale Housing Maintenance Management Area,’ targeting old low-rise residential areas where large-scale development is difficult, conducting area-based maintenance projects to jointly develop quality housing. The scale targets areas under 100,000㎡ with more than half of the buildings being old or substandard.

The selection of Moa Town is finalized after the autonomous district collects residents' opinions, submits an application to Seoul City, and goes through site evaluation and Seoul City committee review. Once designated as Moa Town, various benefits such as expansion of street housing maintenance project areas, mitigation of aging in individual projects, and zoning upgrades are provided.

In the first half of this year, Seongdong-gu selected two places: 457 Majang-dong and 190-2 Sageun-dong, and in the second half, one place: 265 Eungbong-dong, totaling three locations.

The district, together with Seoul City and SH, plans to provide detailed plans at the briefing session, including ▲ explanation of the Moa Town system ▲ analysis of project feasibility by area ▲ loan support, etc.

Additionally, a Q&A session will be held to resolve residents' questions on-site and collect various opinions.

Mayor Jeong Won-oh said, “I hope residents interested in Moa Town participate and resolve their questions,” adding, “The district will actively support and cooperate to ensure that small-scale housing maintenance projects proceed quickly in the future.”
