Export Leaders of Changwon Gather in One Place... Changwon Special City Holds Export Companies Performance Sharing Meeting Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the '2022 Changwon Export Companies Performance Sharing Meeting' to commemorate the 59th Trade Day.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] On the afternoon of the 2nd, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the "2022 Changwon Export Companies Performance Sharing Meeting" at 4 p.m. at the Changwon Convention Center in celebration of the 59th Trade Day.

This event was organized to encourage businesspeople who have worked hard throughout the year to expand exports in Changwon and to boost their motivation and pride in increasing exports.

The event was attended by about 40 people, including Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Park Seon-ae, Chairperson of the Economic Welfare and Women’s Committee of the City Council, Koo Ja-cheon, Chairman of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, heads of export-related organizations, 23 excellent export companies, and representatives of the Changwon Global Biz Centers. The program proceeded in the order of ▲ Export consultation meeting with invited overseas big buyers ▲ Export contract signing ▲ Awards for excellent companies ▲ 2023 vision declaration ▲ Meeting among participating companies.

This year, especially before the main performance sharing event, an export consultation meeting with invited overseas big buyers was held, resulting in export contracts worth approximately 5.2 billion KRW.

The overseas big buyers arrived together with representatives of the Changwon Global Biz Centers. Since 2020, the city has designated and operated 15 Global Biz Centers in 12 countries worldwide. These Biz Centers assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Changwon by conducting local market research, discovering and matching buyers, and supporting export activities.

The main event included awards for excellent companies that achieved valuable export results despite difficult economic conditions, as well as the presentation of appreciation plaques to representatives of the Global Biz Centers. All attendees declared visions such as "Achieving 270 million USD in exports" and "Northeast Asia Export Hub Changwon," expressing their hopes for a further leap in Changwon’s exports in 2023.

Following this, a meeting was held to explore Changwon City’s role tailored to the needs of companies and to foster gradual growth in Changwon’s exports through communication.

This year, the city supported export activities of local SMEs by opening eight additional Global Biz Centers, hosting online export consultation meetings, dispatching trade delegations and technology exchange teams, and participating in overseas exhibition joint pavilions. Next year, the city plans to expand its export territory by opening additional Global Biz Centers in Europe and North America.

Mayor Hong said, “I believe the driving force behind achieving the export target of 250 million USD despite difficult conditions this year was the sweat and effort of the businesspeople. Riding the favorable winds of K-Nuclear Power and K-Defense, we will do our best to further strengthen the future competitiveness of Changwon’s exports.”
