The Final Public Hearing Out of a Total of 5 Sessions
Two Cancelled Hearings to Be Discussed with Local Governments

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The fifth and final public hearing related to the continued operation of Gori Unit 2 has concluded. The two previous hearings, which could not be held due to venue occupation, are expected to be rescheduled.
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Gori Nuclear Headquarters (Head Lee Kwang-hoon) held a public hearing on the draft radiation environmental impact assessment report for the continued operation of Gori Unit 2 at the Grand Moment Youth Hostel auditorium in Nam-gu, Busan on the 2nd.
This public hearing was the last of five planned sessions to gather opinions from residents of four basic districts in Busan: Haeundae-gu, Geumjeong-gu, Suyeong-gu, and Nam-gu, regarding the draft radiation environmental impact assessment report for the continued operation of Gori Unit 2.
About 100 attendees participated in the hearing, which proceeded with an introduction of the public review results of the draft report, an explanation of the draft contents, followed by residents’ statements and responses moderated by Professor An Seok-young of Busan National University.
With the conclusion of this hearing, KHNP has completed public hearings in Ulsan City (Dong-gu, Buk-gu, Jung-gu, Nam-gu) and Yangsan City (November 28), Busan Gijang-gun (November 30), and Busan Haeundae-gu, Geumjeong-gu, Suyeong-gu, and Nam-gu (December 2).
However, the public hearings in Ulsan Ulju-gun (November 23) and Busan Dong-gu, Dongnae-gu, Yeonje-gu, Buk-gu, and Busanjin-gu (November 25), which were canceled due to unauthorized occupation of the venue by some residents and environmental groups, will be rescheduled after consultations with the respective local governments.
