Hamley Director "Full Trust in Yoon's Role and Efforts for the ROK-US Alliance"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the 2nd, President Yoon Suk-yeol met with John Hamre, head of the U.S. think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), and exchanged views on Korea-U.S. relations and North Korea issues.
President Yoon met with Director Hamre at the Yongsan Presidential Office that morning to exchange opinions on international matters, the presidential office's deputy spokesperson Lee Jae-myung conveyed in a written briefing.
Also present at the meeting were Kathleen Stephens, former U.S. Ambassador to Korea, and Victor Cha, CSIS Korea Chair. From the presidential office, National Security Office Director Kim Sung-han and First Deputy Director of the Security Office Kim Tae-hyo attended.
President Yoon said, "CSIS, a leading think tank, is playing a pioneering role in research and enhancing understanding of Korea-U.S. relations," and asked that such efforts continue going forward.
Director Hamre expressed strong support for Korea's vision as a global pivotal state and President Yoon's leadership in Washington, saying, "We place full trust in President Yoon's role and efforts to develop the Korea-U.S. alliance and bilateral relations," according to Deputy Spokesperson Lee.
Director Hamre also added that he will continue to contribute efforts at the CSIS level to promote the development of the Korea-U.S. alliance.
