[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 2nd that it will hold an art exchange exhibition titled "Along the Dongjin River" featuring artists from Jeongeup and Yeosu at the Life Culture Center until the 25th.
This exhibition was organized to provide opportunities for cultural and artistic enjoyment to citizens in rural areas with relatively weak cultural environments and to promote harmony and exchange between local artists and residents of Jeongeup and Yeosu.
The exhibition features a total of 11 artists, including 5 from Jeongeup (Song Jeongsuk, Baek Soyeon, Jang Soon, Kim Gisu, Noh Yejin) and 6 from Yeosu (Jung Wonju, Seo Bonghee, Yoon Seokhyun, Lee Euni, Bae Hyemi, Kim Seonsu), showcasing 24 paintings.
The Jeongeup and Yeosu artists explored the Dongjin River basin over a one-night, two-day trip, sketching and surveying Jeongeup. They created works based on the beautiful scenery and hidden views of Jeongeup they directly experienced along the Dongjin River, the lifeline of the Honam Plain.
The exhibition is open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with hourly admission, and anyone from Jeongeup can view it free of charge.
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Jeongeup Life Culture Center or the Culture and Arts Division of Jeongeup City Hall.
Mayor Lee Haksoo said, "I am pleased that an exhibition where various artworks can be viewed is being held in a rural area with a weak cultural environment," adding, "I hope this exhibition provides a moment of rest and comfort to our tired lives and quenches the thirst for culture and arts."
Meanwhile, the Jeongeup Life Culture Center, operated under the trusteeship of the Seojimal Scholarship Foundation, has established itself as a space for everyday culture and exhibition culture for local residents since its opening in 2017.
