“Classification of Cement Transport Refusal Vehicles, Full Effort for Normalization” … Pohang City Begins Enforcement of Cargo Transport Work Commencement Order

Formation of Joint Inspection Team by Ministry of Land, Transport Operators and Workers Compliance Check

“Classification of Cement Transport Refusal Vehicles, Full Effort for Normalization” … Pohang City Begins Enforcement of Cargo Transport Work Commencement Order Pohang City is focusing on enforcing the order to commence freight transportation operations to normalize cement transport.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Pohang City is putting efforts into enforcing the order to commence freight transportation work in order to normalize cement transportation.

As the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has begun delivering official orders regarding the commencement of work in the cement sector, Pohang City started inspections on cement transport vehicles suspected of refusing transportation from the 1st of this month.

Pohang City formed a joint inspection team with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to classify vehicles suspected of refusing transportation by targeting cement transport vehicles that have been parked for extended periods at major hubs, and delivered notices of investigation commencement.

Additionally, Pohang City urged 41 cement transport vehicles (BCT) in the region to resume normal transportation, explaining the disadvantages of non-compliance with the order to commence work and the support measures such as escort services for normal operation.

Inspections are also being conducted to determine whether the Cargo Solidarity union coerced affiliated operators or obstructed transportation during the strike.

Pohang City, together with the Gyeongbuk Provincial Disaster and Safety Headquarters, visited steel companies to listen to their difficulties and discussed measures to secure storage space for products due to shipment suspension.

A Pohang City official stated, “We are taking all possible measures in cooperation with Gyeongbuk Province to ensure that cement transportation is fully normalized,” and added, “We hope that transport companies and truck drivers who received the order to commence work will promptly return to their duties to minimize damage to the local economy and public livelihood.”
