Warning Broadcasts When Crowds Gather... Gwangjin-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center Gwangjin-gu CCTV Integrated Control Center

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is strengthening the emergency response system of the CCTV control center to prevent safety accidents in densely crowded areas and to proactively respond to disaster situations, and will begin full-scale operation.

Through this, when crowds excessively gather during various events, Christmas, Children's Day, etc., the Gwangjin-gu Integrated Control Center will immediately recognize the risks caused by population density in advance through the enhanced control center CCTV program's 'Cluster' alert and 'People Counting' functions, and warning broadcasts will be issued via CCTV speakers in the crowded areas.

"Safety accidents occur in unexpected situations. Please check the exits in advance in places where large crowds may gather."

The district induces crowd dispersion through warning broadcasts and has enabled immediate response through a step-by-step situation dissemination system.

The existing CCTV control program only selected and displayed CCTV footage of incidents such as people or vehicles falling, wandering, or intrusion on the control screen.

To prevent safety accidents caused by population density, the district added a 'Cluster' function to the CCTV program that notifies the situation when more than two people per 1㎡ gather in densely populated areas within the district, such as Konkuk University Mat-ui Street, Yanggogi Skewer Street, Neungmaru Mat-ui Street, and Guui-dong Migaro.

The 'People Counting' function, which can measure the floating population by time in specific spaces within densely populated areas, was also added to objectively confirm the number of people gathered and systematically respond to safety accidents caused by population density.

Along with this, real-time focused monitoring is conducted to prepare for safety accidents on specific days and in specific areas.

On days and at locations expected to have large crowds, such as Christmas, local festivals, and Children's Day, dedicated controllers are assigned to monitor the corresponding CCTV screens intensively. According to the disaster response stages, the Gwangjin-gu Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters operates an Integrated Support Headquarters at the disaster site, and CCTV control center staff conduct real-time focused monitoring to establish a robust safety net.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "Protecting the safety of residents is the highest administrative priority," and added, "Since the best response to disasters and safety accidents is 'prevention,' we will continue to do our best to maintain vigilance and build a prevention system and a dense safety net."
