[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The Busan Textile Fashion Industry Association announced on the 2nd that it has appointed Choi Byung-oh, chairman of Fashion Group Hyungji, as its new chairman.
The Busan Textile Fashion Association held the Busan Textile Fashion Policy Forum and the inauguration and retirement ceremony for the association chairman at the Busan Fashion Biz Center the day before, appointing Chairman Choi as the new chairman. Prior to this, Chairman Choi was nominated as the new chairman through an executive meeting.
Chairman Choi stated, "We will make full use of the Busan Fashion Biz Center and revitalize the textile fashion industry to contribute to the development of Busan's fashion industry," adding, "We will also support the bid for the Busan World Expo."
The Busan Textile Fashion Industry Association was established in 1996 by textile and fashion organizations in the Busan region to revitalize the Busan textile fashion industry. Park Soon-ho, chairman of Sejung, and Choi Soon-hwan, chairman of Green Joy, served as the 1st and 4th chairmen, respectively. The immediate past chairman, the 9th chairman, was Park Man-young, chairman of Kolping.
Chairman Choi is a pioneering figure who built a fashion company with annual sales of around 1 trillion won based on a women's clothing wholesale business he started over 40 years ago in Dongdaemun. Born in 1953, Chairman Choi is a native of Busan.
