[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Kim Jeong-eun, head of the Medical Social Work Department at Daedong Hospital, was appointed as an operating committee member of the Dongnae-gu Dream Start Operating Committee for two years starting in 2023 at the meeting held on November 29 at 11 a.m. in the large conference room on the 2nd floor of Dongnae District Office.
At the operating committee meeting held that day, the appointment ceremony for the newly appointed operating committee members was conducted, along with reports on the 2022 Dream Start project status and the 2023 project implementation plan.
Dream Start provides customized integrated services tailored to the problems and needs of children under 12 years old from vulnerable groups and their families through community resource linkage, in accordance with Article 37 of the Child Welfare Act. It also supports all vulnerable children by guaranteeing equal starting opportunities so that they can grow into healthy and happy members of society.
The Dongnae-gu Dream Start Operating Committee, which plays an advisory role in establishing project plans and administrative and financial support measures to efficiently support vulnerable children in the community, consists of a total of 13 members including child welfare private experts, public officials, and practitioners from cooperating organizations.
The Dongnae-gu Dream Start facility, opened in 2011, selects target children and operates about 50 programs in various fields such as welfare, health, and childcare, including individual psychological counseling and treatment, cavity prevention and treatment, and learning support.
Kim Jeong-eun, head of the Medical Social Work Department, who attended the event, said, “As Daedong Hospital is a representative medical institution in the region, we will join forces with Dongnae-gu and related local organizations to improve the health and medical welfare service quality for vulnerable children through participation in the Dream Start operating committee. Based on the accumulated experience in linking and developing medical welfare services, we will strive to make the dreams of vulnerable children in the community come true.”
The Medical Social Work Department at Daedong Hospital provides various counseling services and support measures to help patients and their families overcome economic burdens caused by illness, psychological, social, and relational problems experienced during treatment, discharge planning, and social reintegration issues, receiving favorable reviews from local residents for facilitating effective treatment and smooth community reintegration.
