Chairman Lee Hyun-sook of International Gallery Selected as 'Power 100' by UK ArtReview

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] International Gallery announced on the 2nd that Lee Hyunsook, chairman of International Gallery, ranked 75th in the '2022 Power 100,' a list of influential figures in the art world selected by the UK contemporary art magazine ArtReview.

ArtReview explained, "Chairman Lee not only introduced historically significant artists to the Korean context but also played an important role in the careers of several artists, including Yang Hyegyu," adding, "She worked hard to establish the reputation of Dansaekhwa as an art movement."

The first place was awarded to the artist group Ruangrupa, based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Ruangrupa served as the artistic director of Documenta 15 in Kassel this year.

The 'Power 100' also included Korean-born philosopher Byung-Chul Han, former professor at Berlin University of the Arts (ranked 48th), and Jeong Doryeon, deputy director and chief curator of Hong Kong's M+ (ranked 56th).
