"The Efforts of All Koreans Will Surely Bear Fruit"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 1st once again urged the Cargo Solidarity, which is currently engaged in a collective transportation refusal, saying, "Cargo transport workers, please end the work stoppage and join forces to overcome the economic crisis."
President Yoon, through a post on his Facebook account on the same day, asked them to return to the front lines of work, emphasizing that both the government and the private sector are currently working together to overcome the economic crisis.
President Yoon first stated, "The cold wave is raging. The government has entered the winter power supply and demand countermeasure period starting today," adding, "We will operate a supply and demand countermeasure situation room to ensure there is no disruption in power supply and demand, and strictly manage power demand, especially in the public sector."
He continued, "Before we could completely escape the COVID-19 crisis, inflation and the energy crisis are weighing down the global economy," and reported, "Reflecting the impact of the Cargo Solidarity's collective transportation refusal, November exports decreased by 14% compared to the previous year, and the November trade balance recorded a deficit of 7.01 billion dollars."
President Yoon cited the example of the past global financial crisis when the public and private sectors joined forces to increase export volume, emphasizing that everyone must unite to overcome the current crisis as well.
Regarding this, President Yoon mentioned, "About ten years ago, during the global financial crisis, we raised our export volume ranking from 12th to 7th," and said, "Although we faced a crisis, we reorganized our ranks and did our best in our respective positions, allowing us to move to the next stage."
He added, "The current global complex crisis must also be overcome head-on through export promotion. At the recent 'Export Strategy Meeting,' private sector, public enterprises, financial institutions, and government officials all united to do their utmost to promote exports," and pledged, "The government and I will meticulously manage each export strategy so that our companies can compete worldwide."
Furthermore, he emphasized, "The efforts of all of Korea will surely bear fruit," and urged, "Cargo transport workers, please end the work stoppage and join forces to overcome the economic crisis."
