Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin District, attended the ‘17th Volunteer Day’ commemorative ceremony held at Gangbyeon Technomart Wedding Square on the 1st.

Volunteer Day is an occasion to express gratitude and encouragement for the warm hearts of Gwangjin District volunteers who have devoted themselves to the local community and neighbors throughout the year.

This year, the efforts of 91,970 Gwangjin District volunteers stood out. They actively helped neighbors in need by packaging rapid antigen test kits and participating in recovery activities in areas affected by wildfires and heavy rains.

They also led efforts to create clean streets through alley cleaning activities and participated in housing environment improvement projects, delivering hope to neighbors who had neglected their homes buried in trash due to severe depression.

The event began with a sand art congratulatory performance and proceeded with ▲awards for outstanding neighborhood camps ▲commendations and certificates for distinguished volunteers (over 500 hours) ▲viewing of the 2022 volunteer activity video ▲congratulatory speeches ▲invited performances.

At the awards ceremony, 39 outstanding volunteers from groups and camps who actively contributed were awarded certificates, and 31 individuals with over 500 hours of volunteer service received commemorative badges and time certificates to boost their pride.

The ‘Outstanding Neighborhood Camp’ awards were given to seven neighborhoods. This year, joint projects such as the ‘Summer Ice Tag Project’ and ‘Volunteering by My Side’ were carried out, consistently checking on the health and well-being of vulnerable neighbors and practicing warm sharing.

Mayor Kim Kyung-ho of Gwangjin District said, “Gwangjin has become warmer and happier because of volunteers who think of others before themselves,” adding, “I will do my best to support you so that you can volunteer actively and joyfully.”

The event concluded with a passionate congratulatory performance by a guest singer that warmed the cold weather and provided deep rest and comfort to the hardworking volunteers.

The district plans to continue working hand in hand with volunteers to realize a warm Gwangjin.

Seocho District (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) held a plaque unveiling ceremony on the 1st in the first-floor lobby of the district office to commemorate the acquisition of the ‘2022 Smart City Certification.’

The unveiling ceremony was held to celebrate being selected as an excellent smart city in the Smart City Certification evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on September 29, receiving a certificate and a plaque.

The event proceeded with guest introductions, progress reports, greetings, and commemorative photos, attended by a total of eight people including Seocho District Mayor Jeon Seong-su and Oh Se-cheol, Chairperson of the District Council. Notably, three resident teams who received excellent evaluations in this year’s Smart City Living Lab project and will participate in next year’s demonstration projects also attended, emphasizing the start of a ‘smart city created together with residents.’

Mayor Jeon Seong-su of Seocho District said, “This certification was made possible by the interest and participation of the residents present here,” adding, “We will continue to strive to make Seocho District the world’s best smart city.”

This certification is the result of Seocho District having established a system for smart city infrastructure and integrating smart technologies throughout neighborhoods to promote ‘life-oriented smart administration’ that residents can feel directly.

Additionally, the ‘Smart Energy City Project’ for energy efficiency in public institutions, the first of its kind nationwide, and the ‘Integrated Security and Disaster Management System’ functioning as a control tower for various disaster situations received high evaluations.

Gangseo District, Seoul (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) held a meeting of the Airport Height Restriction Relaxation Promotion Committee in the district office’s large conference room on the 1st.

The meeting was organized to share the activities of the second half of the year by Gangseo District Office and the Airport Height Restriction Relaxation Promotion Committee and to discuss future plans, attended by Mayor Kim Tae-woo, Park Chang-soon, Chairperson of the Airport Height Restriction Relaxation Promotion Committee, and committee members.

The committee proposed ‘urging the relaxation of airport height restrictions’ and ‘shortening the schedule for revising the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) international standards’ at a meeting with Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport officials in August. In October, they applied for regulatory relaxation of airport height restrictions through the Regulatory Reform Newspaper and pursued a public audit request with the Board of Audit and Inspection.

As a result of these activities and Gangseo District’s active support, they obtained a response from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stating, “We will ensure that the relaxation of airport height restrictions is implemented early in line with the revision of ICAO international standards.”

Additionally, they have been actively engaging residents’ interest by using a self-produced promotional video on airport height restriction relaxation at the old town revitalization residents’ briefing session and the 2040 Gangseo District Urban Development Basic Plan public hearing.

Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “Gangseo District is making multifaceted efforts for the prompt relaxation of airport height restrictions, including revising related ordinances and joint proposals with surrounding local governments,” adding, “Based on close communication with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, we will do our best to achieve the relaxation of airport height restrictions and create a high-quality balanced city Gangseo where the old town is revitalized.”
