Plays Key Role in SK Group's Future Strategy Planning
Establishes Foundation for SK Square's Growth as Investment Specialist Company
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] SK Square announced on the 1st that it has appointed Park Seong-ha, CEO of SK C&C, as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
New CEO Park Seong-ha joined SK Telecom's Management Strategy Office in 1993 and has held key positions within the SK Group, including Head of SK Telecom's Planning Division, Head of the Strategy Support Team at SK Supex Council, and CEO of SK C&C. He currently serves as a non-executive director on SK Square's board. Alongside Vice Chairman Park Jung-ho, he has achieved significant mergers and acquisitions (M&A) successes such as the acquisition of Shinsegi Telecom and has played a pivotal role in establishing SK Group's future strategies.
Vice Chairman Park Jung-ho, who stepped down as CEO of SK C&C, will lead business cooperation synergies among ICT family companies such as SK Hynix and SK Telecom as Vice Chairman of SK Square.
As SK Square enters its second year since launch, it has appointed Park as the new CEO with expertise in portfolio management and global investment to lay the foundation for its leap into a global investment specialist company. The company also plans to accelerate future innovation investments.
The internal organization will be restructured into three main units: Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Investment Officer (CIO), and Investment Support Center. COO duties will be concurrently held by new CEO Park Seong-ha, who will oversee portfolio management. The CIO and Investment Support Center will be led by CIO Ha Hyeong-il and Investment Support Center Head Jeong Jae-heon, respectively. The CIO organization will be responsible for discovering and executing new investments, while the Investment Support Center will manage all matters related to investment activities.
The 'Investment Deliberation Committee' will also be institutionalized as a standing organization to further strengthen portfolio strategy execution and internal and external risk management capabilities. To secure core competitiveness as a global investment specialist, a new 'Global Talent Division' will be established to recruit and nurture external investment experts.
Yoon Poong-young, who previously served as SK Square's Chief Investment Officer, will be promoted to president and take charge of SK C&C.
