[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] The military has increased the deployment of personnel and equipment to reduce logistics damage caused by cargo and railway strikes.
On the 1st, Moon Hong-sik, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense, stated at a regular briefing, "The Ministry of National Defense basically supports the requests from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the people's livelihood, convenience, and safety by deploying substitute personnel and vehicles."
The military formed and is operating a disaster response headquarters led by the logistics management officer as the head to minimize industrial site damage and public inconvenience caused by the strike.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, the military additionally deployed 24 container trucks to Busan Port on the day. So far, the military has deployed 98 vehicles, including container trucks and tankers, to the strike sites. Support personnel to replace train drivers and subway conductors at the railway strike sites have also increased from about 200 to 305.
Additionally, in response to requests from Kia Motors and Gwangju City, plans are underway to prepare a temporary storage space for delayed finished vehicles at the Air Force 1st Fighter Wing.
