500 Heads of Kimjang Kimchi Delivered to Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] The Iro-dong Saemaeul Women's Association (President Lee So-young) and the Iro-dong Council (President Yoo Chun-dae) in Mokpo-si, Jeollanam-do, held a 'Sharing Love Kimchi Making' event on the 29th of last month.
The Iro-dong Saemaeul Women's Association has been delivering homemade kimchi made every year to underprivileged groups in the community, along with monthly side dish sharing volunteer work and preparations for the winter for neighbors in need. Especially this year, Jo Seong-yeol, head of the Iro-dong Administrative Welfare Center, along with local officials and the Iro-dong Council, participated together.
On that day, 500 heads of kimchi, carefully prepared at the Iro-dong Administrative Welfare Center, were personally delivered by the Iro-dong Saemaeul Women's Association and Head Jo Seong-yeol to vulnerable groups such as local senior centers and elderly living alone, sharing warmth and care.
Lee So-young, president of the Iro-dong Saemaeul Women's Association, said, "In these difficult times both domestically and internationally due to the economic downturn, it is natural to look after and extend helping hands to marginalized neighbors. I am grateful to the Iro-dong Administrative Welfare Center, the Autonomous Committee, and the Tongjang Sanghoe who participated in the Sharing Love Kimchi Making event despite their busy schedules, and we will strive to create a warm Iro-dong through continuous neighborly love."
