[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] S-OIL presented a total prize money of 140 million KRW to citizen heroes who demonstrated self-sacrifice to save neighbors in danger.
On the 1st, S-OIL held the '2022 Citizen Hero of the Year Awards Ceremony' at its headquarters in Gongdeok-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, together with the Korea National Council on Social Welfare, awarding plaques and a total of 140 million KRW to 18 citizen heroes of the year.
The selected citizen heroes include Kim Soon-yi, who suffered severe burns and is currently hospitalized unconscious after rescuing an elementary school student with mobility difficulties due to a disability during a building fire in Seo-gu, Daegu in June; Lee Kwang-won and Kim Jung-soo, who entered the water near Namaehyang, Yangyang, Gangwon-do, to rescue all four occupants of a vehicle that had fallen into the sea by tying a ship's rope to the vehicle; three injured individuals and 15 active participants.
S-OIL has supported a total of 2.8 billion KRW to 287 citizen heroes over 15 years since 2008.
Al-Katani, CEO of S-OIL, said, "Citizens who showed courage and self-sacrifice for neighbors in danger are the true heroes of our society," adding, "Like these hidden heroes, S-OIL will strive to be a reliable guardian you can trust and depend on."
