[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Jeju Air announced on the 1st that it will resume flights on the Incheon~Okinawa route with a schedule of seven times a week. This comes after a suspension of operations for 2 years and 9 months since March 2020 due to COVID-19.
Jeju Air’s Incheon~Okinawa route departs daily from Incheon International Airport at 12:40 PM and arrives in Okinawa at 3:05 PM. The return flight departs Okinawa at 3:55 PM and arrives in Incheon at 6:15 PM.
Located at the southernmost tip of Japan, Okinawa is a travel destination known as the “Hawaii of Asia” for its emerald-colored sea and vibrant coral reefs. Visitors can enjoy various marine sports and experience a unique charm shaped by the fusion of cultures from the former Ryukyu Kingdom, China, the United States, and more. Notably, Okinawa is Japan’s only subtropical climate region, offering relatively warm weather even in winter, making it a popular training site for domestic professional baseball teams.
Jeju Air is actively expanding its dominance in the Japan routes by operating a total of 178 weekly flights, including the resumed Incheon~Okinawa route, 35 weekly flights on the Incheon~Tokyo (Narita) route, 28 on Incheon~Fukuoka, 21 on Incheon~Osaka, 14 on Incheon~Sapporo, 7 on Incheon~Nagoya, 21 on Busan~Fukuoka, 14 on Busan~Tokyo (Narita) and Osaka routes as well as Gimpo~Osaka, and 3 on Muan~Osaka.
A Jeju Air official stated, “With the active increase and resumption of flights on Japan routes, the range of choices for travelers wishing to visit Japan is expanding even further.”
