[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] LG Electronics' CLOi robot will be introduced not only in hotels, hospitals, and restaurants but also in schools. This marks the first time an educational guide robot is being provided to schools, offering a 'new experience.'
On the 1st, LG Electronics announced that it will supply the 'LG CLOi GuideBot' to dozens of elementary, middle, and high schools in the Gumi area of Gyeongsangbuk-do, including Sagok High School. This is the first time LG CLOi robots are being supplied to schools for educational purposes.
The LG CLOi GuideBot features a 27-inch touch display on both the front and back of the device and an AI-based autonomous driving function that allows it to avoid obstacles on its own.
It is expected to be mainly used for students' digital education. Students can create apps to control the robot or customize the robot's home screen as they wish. Programming results created by students can be uploaded to a content management site and easily applied to the robot.
The product is designed to attract students' interest by displaying videos or image content created directly by students on the robot's display. It is also used to inform visitors and members by loading various content such as the principal's greeting, the school's history of excellence, announcements, and weekly meal menus.
LG Electronics plans to continuously update educational content and functions by reflecting feedback from the educational field even after supplying the robots.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics has supplied seven types of robots, including the LG CLOi GuideBot, to various domestic and international spaces such as hotels, hospitals, restaurants, and logistics centers in Korea, the Four Points Hotel in Anaheim, California, USA, and AEON Mall Narita, Japan's largest shopping mall.
Roh Kyu-chan, Executive Director of LG Electronics' Robot Business Division, said, "Leveraging the LG CLOi robots, which have been recognized for their technological excellence in shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, and more, we will provide new experiences in various educational fields, including digital education."
