[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] The Gijang-eup Administrative Welfare Center in Gijang-gun, Busan, held the "This Year's Gijang-eup Resident Autonomy Program Participants' Works Exhibition" on the 30th at the administrative welfare center's main auditorium, organized by the Resident Autonomy Committee.
At this exhibition, participants of the Gijang-eup resident autonomy program showcased over 80 works in various fields including ▲watercolor ▲poetry ▲calligraphy ▲botanical art, demonstrating the skills they have honed over time.
The Gijang-eup resident autonomy program was suspended from February 2020 to June 2022 due to COVID-19 but resumed operations in July of this year. During this period, various programs were offered to residents exhausted by COVID-19, aiming to improve quality of life and provide lifelong learning opportunities to promote residents' cultural and welfare enhancement.
The main programs include 11 courses such as yoga, Chinese characters, watercolor, and calligraphy, with about 160 participants each quarter. Particularly, by hiring high-level instructors and providing education centered on participants' needs, the satisfaction and enthusiasm of the participants are very high.
Participants in the resident autonomy program expressed satisfaction, saying, "It has been a time to enjoyably interact with neighboring residents while receiving quality classes nearby."
A representative of the Gijang-eup Administrative Welfare Center said, "It was a meaningful occasion showcasing the diverse talents of residents who diligently practiced and the passionate instructors," and added, "We will actively support the continuous development of resident autonomy."
Gijang-eup plans to recruit and operate programs for about 250 participants quarterly every year and intends to encourage continuous participation of local residents through active promotion.
