[Seoul District News] Seodaemun-gu Plans Increase in November This Year, Implementing for About 1,600 Residents... Ordinance Revised to Include Seoul Veterans Allowance Recipients from January
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Seongheon Lee) has increased the Veterans' Honor Allowance, fully funded by the district, from 20,000 KRW per month to 50,000 KRW per month starting November for about 1,600 national veterans in the area.
National veterans refer to those who have sacrificed or contributed for the country, as well as their bereaved families or relatives.
The district prepared an additional supplementary budget for this increase in the Veterans' Honor Allowance.
Also, by partially amending the "Ordinance on the Honor and Support for National Veterans of Seodaemun-gu," the district decided to provide the Seodaemun-gu Veterans' Honor Allowance even to those who receive allowances under other veterans-related ordinances such as those of Seoul City. The effective date is January 1, 2023.
As a result, starting next year, residents receiving veterans-related allowances from Seoul City, such as the Honorary War Veteran Allowance, Living Assistance Allowance, and Veterans' Honor Allowance, will also receive the Seodaemun-gu Veterans' Honor Allowance.
Mayor Seongheon Lee said, "Honoring and improving welfare for national veterans and their families is a natural duty and obligation, and Seodaemun-gu will strive even harder in this regard going forward."
