[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] As the COVID-19 resurgence begins, the number of student cases confirmed in the past week has increased again.


On the 30th, the Ministry of Education reported that the number of student COVID-19 cases from November 22 to 28 was 31,476, an increase of 1,463 compared to the previous week (30,013).


The weekly student cases had increased for five consecutive weeks since the third week of October, slightly decreased during November 15-21, and then turned to an increasing trend again.


The weekly student cases for the recent four weeks are ▲November 1-7: 29,589 ▲November 8-14: 34,723 ▲November 15-21: 30,013 ▲November 22-28: 31,476.


By school level, student cases are ▲Kindergarten 990 ▲Elementary school 14,529 ▲Middle school 9,258 ▲High school 6,536 ▲Special schools, etc. 163.


The proportion of student cases to the total confirmed cases (377,660) is 8.3%, the same as the previous week (8.3%). The proportion was 9.6% during November 8-14 but has been decreasing since then.


The participation rate in the student self-diagnosis app was 58.2% as of the 28th. Students who showed symptoms or were instructed to refrain from attending school numbered 29,559 (0.5%).


During the same period, confirmed cases among school staff were 4,914, a decrease of 93 compared to the previous week. The cumulative number of confirmed student cases is 2,929,252, and cumulative confirmed staff cases are 310,045.
