Gwangju Nam-gu, Winter Construction and Demolition Site Safety Inspection

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is conducting safety inspections focusing on large-scale construction sites in the district to prevent safety accidents during the winter season, in collaboration with the Honam branch of the Korea Infrastructure Safety Corporation.

According to Nam-gu on the 30th, the safety inspection of construction sites in preparation for the winter season will be conducted for two weeks from today until the 13th of next month.

The inspection targets include 13 sites: 11 apartment construction sites including mixed-use residential complexes and 2 religious facility sites currently undergoing demolition.

Nam-gu has organized two inspection teams including officials from the Honam branch of the Korea Infrastructure Safety Corporation. They plan to check whether winter safety management plans have been prepared, the availability of emergency snow removal materials and equipment, and the establishment of emergency contact networks.

In particular, they will visit the 11 construction sites in the district to take preemptive measures against possible collapse or deformation of temporary structures caused by heavy snowfall, implement anti-slip measures for snow and ice, inspect the installation status of formwork and scaffolding, and conduct comprehensive inspections around slopes and other areas near the construction sites.

They also plan to review whether construction supervision tasks are being properly performed.

Additionally, at the building demolition sites, they will check whether the demolition is proceeding according to the demolition plan to prevent safety accidents, and will also verify the preparation of supervision work logs and the structural safety of the buildings.

A Nam-gu official stated, “We will issue correction orders for violations, and if these are not complied with, administrative measures will be taken according to relevant laws. We will strengthen safety measures around construction sites during the winter season.”
