Gwangju Bukbu Fire Department Conducts 2022 Comprehensive Emergency Rescue Drill

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] On the 29th at 2 p.m., the Gwangju Northern Fire Station announced on the 30th that it conducted the '2022 Comprehensive Emergency Rescue Drill' at the Gwangju Metropolitan City Education and Training Institute to strengthen emergency rescue response capabilities at disaster sites.

The comprehensive emergency rescue drill was conducted to protect citizens' lives and property by improving the initial response capabilities of related personnel in the event of a large-scale disaster, establishing a cooperative system between emergency rescue agencies and support organizations, and enhancing integrated command capabilities at disaster sites.

This drill, involving 13 organizations and groups including Buk-gu Office and Northern Police Station, was conducted assuming a large fire and casualties caused by the partial collapse of a building under extension construction.

The main contents included ▲ dissemination of disaster occurrence situations and initial response activities by the self-defense fire brigade ▲ establishment of a public-private joint cooperative response system involving emergency rescue support agencies and related personnel ▲ rescue and emergency evacuation of people inside the building ▲ triage and first aid for multiple casualties ▲ smart medical guidance for critically ill patients ▲ rescue using an articulating ladder truck and vertical ropes ▲ emergency evacuation of all personnel due to the risk of additional building collapse ▲ completion of buried person rescue and disaster termination.

Chief Lee Dong-young said, “This drill was a valuable opportunity to strengthen large-scale fire response capabilities and check the cooperation system among related agencies,” adding, “We will take the lead in protecting citizens' lives and property through an organic cooperative system with related agencies in the event of a disaster.”
