On the 30th, Gumi University announced, "At the '2022 Korea University Newspaper University Awards' ceremony held on the 29th at the Seoul Club in Jangchung-dong, Seoul, we were selected as an excellent junior college in employment and start-up capabilities and received an award."
At the university awards, excellent universities were selected in seven categories for junior colleges: employment and start-up capabilities (Gumi University), educational specialization (Donggang University), ESG management (Samyook Health University), innovation support industry (Yeungnam Institute of Technology), industry-academia cooperation (Ulsan College of Science), educational specialization (Korea National University of Arts), and educational content (Hanyang Women's University).
Gumi University was also selected as an excellent university in employment and start-up capabilities at the 2020 University Awards. This means it has proven its top employment and start-up capabilities again in two years.
Gumi University ranked first nationwide with a high employment rate of 80.8% based on the average employment rate over the past 11 years announced up to this year (for graduates of 500 or more). It is the only comprehensive university with over 1,000 graduates nationwide with an average employment rate exceeding 80%.
Additionally, the average large company employment rate over the past 10 years was recorded at 33.4%, which is also a major strength indicating high quality of employment.
Chung Chang-joo, president of Gumi University, said, "Gumi University is recognized by itself and others as the nation's best employment-specialized university, and scholarships are also among the highest nationwide, allowing students to study without worrying about tuition and graduate without worrying about employment."
According to the university information site University Alimi's announcement standard this year, last year the average annual scholarship per student was 4.85 million KRW. This is a high figure corresponding to 84.3% of the average annual tuition fee, meaning the actual tuition burden is less than 1 million KRW per year on average.
Gumi University ranked first nationwide among universities with more than 2,500 enrolled students, and the average annual scholarship per student has exceeded 80% of the average annual tuition fee over the past four years.
