This Year's Content Industry Revenue 147 Trillion Won... Up 7.4% from Previous Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jong-gil] A forum to review the current state of the content industry and envision its future will be held. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency will host the ‘Content Industry 2022 Review and 2023 Outlook Seminar’ on the 7th of next month at CKL Stage in Jung-gu, Seoul. Various changes and key issues that emerged in the content industry this year will be analyzed from multiple perspectives, and upcoming changes next year will be forecasted using keywords.


The review of this year’s content industry will be based on various data such as statistics by sector, major issues by genre, big data, and timelines. The presentation will be delivered by Song Jin, Head of Policy at the Korea Creative Content Agency. He will examine each event that occurred and predict how these developments will unfold.


According to data pre-released by the Korea Creative Content Agency, the domestic content industry’s sales scale this year is estimated at 146.9 trillion KRW, a 7.4% increase from last year. Export volume is estimated at 13.01 billion USD, up 1.5%, and employment is estimated at 657,000 people, a 1.6% increase.


The seminar will review this year’s issues and discuss what the content industry should prepare for in the endemic era. The panel discussion will include Kim Hong-gi, CEO of Space Oddity; Yoo Sang-won, Director at Studio Dragon; Lee Kyung-jin, Head at Smilegate; Jin Seung-hyuk, CEO of Cleon; and Hwang Jae-heon, Center Director at Kakao Entertainment.
