[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Doo-yeol] The Humanities Korea Plus (HK+) Project Group at Pukyong National University will hold the "5th Northeast Asian Maritime Area and Humanities Network International Conference" both online and offline over two days on the 1st and 2nd at the Miraegwan and Humanities, Social Sciences & Business Building.
Under the theme "Changes and Negotiations in the Northeast Asian Maritime Humanities Network," this international conference includes scholars from 13 universities and institutions across four countries: Korea, Japan, China, and Taiwan.
The conference will begin with a keynote lecture titled "Industrialization in Postwar East Asia: Historical Retrospect and Prospects" by Kim Dae-rae, Honorary Professor of Global Economics at Silla University, followed by 13 presentations and discussions across four sessions.
On the first day, the sessions will cover ▲Northeast Asian Maritime Area and Port Cities ▲Northeast Asian Maritime Area and Fisheries ▲Aid and Trade in the Northeast Asian Maritime Area, while on the second day, the session will focus on ▲Humanities of the Northeast Asian Maritime Area.
Son Dong-ju, head of the Pukyong National University HK+ Project Group, stated, "The Northeast Asian maritime area is a dynamic space where the history, culture, society, religion, and industries of Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, and the world intersect and converge. We hope this conference will serve as a cornerstone for continuously developing the humanities network in the Northeast Asian region as we enter the next-generation industrial revolution era that transcends boundaries."
The Pukyong National University HK+ Project Group holds an annual international conference to view the Northeast Asian maritime area from a humanities perspective with East Asian scholars and to develop relationships in the Northeast Asian region based on the importance and role of the maritime area.
