[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Naver shares insights on IT design with aspiring designers in the digital field.
Naver announced on the 30th that it held the 'Naver Design Colloquium 2022' to share insights on IT design that is transforming everyday life and work culture.
The Naver Design Colloquium is an event where Naver shares its accumulated design insights with aspiring designers and industry professionals in the digital field, marking its 5th year this year.
Seung-eon Kim, Head of Naver Design Planning, explained the importance of IT design for 'Augmented Life' and the design philosophy embedded in Naver services during the keynote speech.
Kim stated, “Unlike the past when the distinction between online and offline was clear, in the convergence era, it is natural for online experiences to expand into physical spaces, and offline experiences are merging with online experiences. The role of designers is to connect users' fundamental needs with new technologies well, and only when this works properly does 'innovation' occur.”
The seminar sessions continued with presentations on Naver design planning insights from the perspective of 'Work & Life.'
In the 'Work' session, Naver designers shared their roles in creating a new work environment for the post-COVID era at Naver’s new headquarters, ‘1784’. Practical designers shared insights on how robots behave, their movement paths, interfaces, and how user experience (UX) was designed in the new headquarters where robots coexist. The design process for services involving AI and human interaction, such as Clova Note and Clova Care Call, was also introduced.
In the following 'XR Experience' session, explanations were given on XR experiences and design elements that deeply expand daily life through Naver services, including virtual influencer Isol and next-generation search services using augmented reality. Additionally, the UX design process of new fintech services that maximize connections between financial services such as insurance and automobiles and enable easier asset management was shared, including the Naver app Na., which consolidates wallets and everyday tools from drawers onto one screen.
The event also featured live sessions allowing real-time communication with participants. Presenters from each session shared behind-the-scenes stories and answered participants' questions live. There was also a session to discuss Naver Design’s work environment and culture with HR representatives.
