[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon FC has appointed Choi Soon-ho (60), former vice president of the Korea Football Association, as the successor to Director Kim Ho-gon, whose term expires in February next year.


Suwon FC formed an executive recommendation committee to appoint the director and publicly recruited candidates from November 11 to 21. A total of eight people applied, and after evaluation, the Suwon FC board of directors appointed former Korea Football Association Vice President Choi Soon-ho as the new director on the 29th.


Director-elect Choi Soon-ho graduated from Cheongju Commercial High School and Kwangwoon University. He was active as a national team player from 1980 to 1991, scoring 30 goals in A matches. He played as a starting forward in the 1986 Mexico World Cup and the 1990 Italy World Cup, leaving a strong impression worldwide by scoring against Italy in the 1986 World Cup.


After retiring in 1992, he served as manager of Pohang Steelers, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, and Gangwon FC. Director-elect Choi Soon-ho will officially take office in February next year.
