[Asia Economy Reporter Myunghwan Lee] On the last day of November, the 30th, morning temperatures in most regions are forecasted to be very cold, ranging from -10 to -5 degrees Celsius. The daytime temperatures in the central regions will also remain below freezing.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 29th, morning temperatures on the 30th are expected to drop 15 to 20 degrees lower than on the 29th morning, prompting a cold wave advisory nationwide. Except for some areas, the advisory level has been raised to a warning. Until the afternoon of the 29th, the weather was warmer than usual for this time of year, but the arrival of midwinter cold will make the chill feel much more severe.

The lowest morning temperatures on the 30th are expected to range nationwide from -12 degrees to 2 degrees Celsius. The Korea Meteorological Administration predicts that morning temperatures in northern Gyeonggi, inland Gangwon, and Gangwon mountain areas will fall below -10 degrees, with central regions and inland North Gyeongsang experiencing morning temperatures between -10 and -5 degrees Celsius.

Since rain fell on the 28th and 29th leaving roads wet, and temperatures will drop below freezing, there is a risk of thin ice forming on roads, so caution is advised while driving.

With strong winds blowing, the wind chill on the 30th will drop to around -15 degrees Celsius. Until the 30th, strong winds of 35 to 60 km/h (10 to 16 m/s) or more (mountain areas over 90 km/h) are expected along most coasts, Gangwon mountain areas, northeastern North Gyeongsang mountain areas, and Jeju.

The lowest morning temperature in Seoul on the 30th will be -7 degrees Celsius, with a wind chill of -13 degrees. Since 2000, the lowest November temperature in Seoul dropping to around -7 degrees has only occurred twice: on November 27, 2015 (-7.3 degrees) and November 19, 2008 (-7.2 degrees).

Expected lowest temperatures in other major cities are ▲Incheon -6 degrees (wind chill -14 degrees) ▲Daejeon -5 degrees (-11 degrees) ▲Gwangju -1 degree (-5 degrees) ▲Daegu -3 degrees (-9 degrees) ▲Ulsan -1 degree (-7 degrees) ▲Busan 0 degrees (-5 degrees).

The highest daytime temperatures on the 30th are forecasted to range from -3 degrees to 5 degrees Celsius. Especially in the central regions, daytime temperatures will also remain below freezing. Southern regions will have temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius. Expected highest temperatures in major cities are ▲Seoul -3 degrees (wind chill -8 degrees) ▲Incheon -3 degrees (-9 degrees) ▲Daejeon 0 degrees (-4 degrees) ▲Gwangju 1 degree (-3 degrees) ▲Daegu 3 degrees (-1 degree) ▲Ulsan 4 degrees (0 degrees) ▲Busan 5 degrees (1 degree).

The cold will intensify on the morning of Thursday, December 1. On the morning of the 1st, most regions will have morning temperatures between -10 and -5 degrees, with most areas experiencing below-freezing morning lows. From the afternoon of the 1st, temperatures will begin to rise, reaching average levels by the 2nd, but since it will be December, the cold will not completely disappear.

Cloud bands formed as cold air passes over the relatively warm West Sea will be carried by northwesterly winds, bringing occasional rain or snow on the 30th to the western coast of Chungnam, western Jeolla, and Jeju, with snow flurries in northeastern inland Jeonbuk. Between dawn and morning on the 30th, occasional snow will fall in central and northern inland Chungnam, with snow flurries in southern coastal Gyeonggi, southern inland Chungnam, central Chungbuk, and southern Chungbuk.

On December 1, as cloud bands move in again, rain or snow will fall until dawn on the western coast of Chungnam, northern inland Chungnam, and the western coast of Jeolla, and until the afternoon on Jeju. By night, rain or snow will intermittently fall again on the western coasts of Chungnam and Jeolla.

Snow flurries are expected on the southern coastal Gyeonggi on the 1st. If snow falls this time, it will likely be the first snow of the winter in most regions. Precipitation from the 30th to the 1st is expected to be around 5 mm in western Jeolla and Jeju, and less than 5 mm in the western coast of Chungnam, northern inland Chungnam, and the West Sea 5 Islands. Expected snowfall amounts are 1 to 5 cm (with some areas over 7 cm) in western Jeonbuk and Jeju mountain areas, and 1 to 3 cm in the western coast of Chungnam, northern inland Chungnam, western Jeonnam, and the West Sea 5 Islands.
