KT Announces Smart City Project at Korea-Saudi Housing Cooperation Forum

[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] KT announced on the 29th at the Korea-Saudi Housing Cooperation Forum held at Lotte Hotel Jamsil, Seoul, that it introduced its smart city business.


This forum was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and the Korea Housing Association, coinciding with the visit of Majid Al-Hogail, Saudi Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, following Minister Won Hee-ryong's visit to Saudi Arabia earlier this month. Organizations related to construction such as Korea Water Resources Corporation, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation (HUG), POSCO Engineering & Construction, and Hyundai Engineering & Construction participated, and among IT companies, Naver, KT, and the startup Zigbang, which are engaged in smart city projects, attended.


At this event, KT presented its smart city business, including AI deep learning-based Cooperative Intelligent Transport System (C-ITS) technology, demonstration cases in Jeju Island, and integrated urban operation solutions. Additionally, it introduced its global business status.


The two ministers attending the forum agreed to expand the housing cooperation MOU signed in 2016 to include housing and smart cities, reaffirming it as a step to strengthen future new industry cooperation. They also proposed regularizing the forum as an expanded cooperation platform to jointly develop future smart city concepts, anticipating that this forum will serve as an important foundation for creating new global urban and housing cooperation models.
