Stabilizing Farmers' Income with 5.7 Billion KRW in Small-Scale Direct Payments and 3.4 Billion KRW in Area-Based Direct Payments
[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, will pay the 2022 Basic Public Interest Direct Payment from November 25 to December 2.
The Public Interest Direct Payment is a system that provides support funds to promote the public interest functions of agriculture and rural areas and to stabilize the income of farmers. This year, a total of 6582 farms are expected to receive 9.1 billion KRW.
The small-scale direct payment, which provides 1.2 million KRW per farm, will be paid to 4721 farms totaling 5.7 billion KRW, and the area-based direct payment, which applies unit prices by step and section to the total farmland area, will be paid to 1861 farms totaling 3.4 billion KRW.
The county received direct payment applications from farms and plots registered as agricultural management entities at the eup/myeon offices where the farmland is located from April to May. In June, registration certificates were issued to each recipient, and in October, the payment targets and amounts were finalized through mass verification and compliance inspections.
Shin Woo-cheol, the governor of Wando-gun, said, "I hope the Public Interest Direct Payment will be of some help to farmers facing difficulties such as drought, rising agricultural material prices, and falling rice prices, and contribute to promoting the public interest functions of agriculture."
