Seoul City "Submit 2023 School Enrollment Notification Online Starting Next Month 2"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 30th that it will implement the 'Online Submission Service for School Enrollment Notification' for elementary school enrollment children for the 2023 academic year starting next month on the 2nd.


The target children for elementary school enrollment in the 2023 academic year are, in principle, children aged 6, born between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2016. Children aged 5 who wish to enter school early can apply by visiting their local community service center by the 30th of next month and then use the service. Children who deferred enrollment last year can also use the service unless they apply for a separate extension.


The online submission service for school enrollment notifications provided by the Seoul Metropolitan Government allows parents to view the enrollment notification for their child online and submit it directly to the designated elementary school without the need for printing or separate submission afterward. However, regardless of submission, attendance at the preliminary gathering day is mandatory to receive information related to enrollment.


The service can be used from the 2nd to the 12th of next month by accessing the main news banner on the Seoul Metropolitan Government website or the Seoul online civil service portal, verifying identity through a joint certificate, and then using the service. Eligible users include the head of household, parents, grandparents, or guardians of children residing in Seoul who are subject to enrollment. If users wish to print the enrollment notification after online submission, they can do so by 6 p.m. on the 12th via the ‘Application Result Confirmation’ menu at the top of the online civil service portal.


Guardians of children who do not use the online submission service will receive the enrollment notification by mail or other means through local community center staff or neighborhood leaders between the 13th and 20th, and should submit it during the preliminary gathering at the elementary school they will attend. The government’s nationwide ‘issuance’ service for school enrollment notifications will also operate from the 2nd to the 12th of next month on Government24.


Song Gwang-nam, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Autonomous Administration Division, said, “The online submission service for school enrollment notifications in Seoul has received high approval from young couples such as dual-income families. It is a non-face-to-face service that allows confirmation and submission of enrollment notifications and guidance documents without printed materials in environments where external visits are undesirable. We hope many parents in Seoul with children about to enter elementary school will use and take interest in this service.”
