[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Korea Arts & Culture Education Service announced on the 29th that it successfully held the ‘Art & Tech Salon - Performance Sharing Meeting’ for a total of five days from the 21st to the 25th.

This event was organized to present the results of 66 projects supported by the Arts Council’s ‘2022 Arts and Technology Convergence Support’ program, which includes ‘Idea Planning and Implementation Support’ for technology convergence art creation planning and ‘Free Planning Activity Support’ for supporting art-technology convergence collaboration and processes.

The Arts Council live-streamed the event on its YouTube channel. About 1,000 people participated, and 99% of respondents expressed satisfaction with the operation of the performance sharing meeting. Additionally, 98% of respondents indicated their willingness to participate in future programs.

The ‘Art & Tech Salon - Performance Sharing Meeting’ was conducted in a format where selected artists directly presented the processes and results of projects carried out throughout the year. It was a venue to share information related to art-technology convergence, encourage each other’s project achievements, and enable collaboration among experts from various fields.

An artist who participated in the performance sharing meeting said, “Through this meeting, I came to understand the creative processes and outcomes that fellow artists have intensely researched and experimentally explored from multiple angles,” and added, “I hope the support program will develop further so that more artists can newly challenge and sustain technology convergence art creation in the future.”

The Arts Council has been promoting the ‘Arts and Technology Convergence Support’ project since 2017 to establish a sustainable creative foundation amid rapidly changing social and technological environments. Next year’s project closed the ‘Creative Process Arts and Technology’ on the 4th, and plans to launch a call for projects for three types of step-by-step creative support?‘Planning, Creation-Production, and Dissemination’?by the end of December.

Various information related to art-technology convergence, including the contents of the ‘Art & Tech Salon - Performance Sharing Meeting,’ can be found on the Art & Tech platform.

An official from the Arts Council said, “We hope that the information and meetings encountered through the performance sharing meeting will lead to active collaboration among artists and generate much interest and participation in the 2023 public project,” and added, “As a ‘partner in the art field creating the joy of creation together,’ the Arts Council will continue to strive for the growth of new art.”
