Gurye-gun Conducts Four Major Violence Prevention Training for Senior Officials

Sexual Harassment? Prostitution? Sexual Violence? Domestic Violence Prevention Training for Grade 5 and Above Senior Officials

[Gurye=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 28th of last month, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced that it conducted a prevention education session on the four major types of violence against public officials?sexual harassment, prostitution, sexual violence, and domestic violence?by inviting Director Cha Hyun-sook as an instructor. The session was attended by 34 senior officials, including County Governor Kim Soon-ho and other officials at grade 5 or higher.

This education was conducted as a customized special training for high-ranking officials, including institution heads, separate from general employees, in accordance with the 2022 Violence Prevention Education Operation Guidelines.

On that day, the session focused on the responsibilities and practical measures for managers regarding the prevention of the four major types of violence under the theme "That is Never Trivial." It approached the structural causes of these four types of violence from a gender-aware perspective, centering on key case studies.

Additionally, for general public officials, Director Cha Kyung-hee of the Women's Human Rights Counseling Center affiliated with Gwangju Women's Hotline was invited to provide a session on fostering a gender-equal organizational culture and preventing sexual harassment (sexual violence). The session offered proposals for creating a gender-equal workplace and provided time to explore the roles and measures for organizational members.

Governor Kim Soon-ho urged, "Through violence prevention education, we must correct misconceptions and perceptions about violence that can occur in various areas and foster a desirable organizational culture." He also stated, "I hope senior officials will take the lead in establishing and promoting a public official image that respects one another within the workplace."
