‘Signal for the Launch of the Resident Autonomy Committee’, Beomseo-eup, Ulju-gun ... Public Drawing Held for Committee Member Selection The members of the Residents' Autonomy Committee of Beomseo-eup, Ulju-gun, Ulsan were selected through a public lottery.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Beomseo-eup, Ulju-gun, Ulsan City conducted a public lottery to select members of the Residents' Autonomy Committee and selected 24 members.

The 'Residents' Autonomy Committee,' a core system for realizing grassroots democracy, differs from the existing Residents' Autonomy Council in that residents directly establish and execute autonomy plans, serving as a representative body with substantial authority and roles.

Last month, Beomseo-eup announced the recruitment of Residents' Autonomy Committee members according to related ordinances and received applications from 50 residents.

The lottery was held on the 28th at the 2nd-floor meeting room of the Beomseo-eup Administrative Welfare Center, with 49 participants after one person withdrew before the start.

As a result of the lottery, a total of 24 members were selected as Beomseo-eup Residents' Autonomy Committee members, including 15 men and 9 women, and 5 additional candidates (3 men, 2 women) were selected as alternates.

Park Kyung-rye, head of Beomseo-eup, said, "We thank the residents who showed great interest and support in selecting the Residents' Autonomy Committee members this time," adding, "We will spare no administrative support to ensure the successful launch of the Residents' Autonomy Committee."

Currently, Eonyang-eup in Ulju-gun operates a Residents' Autonomy Committee, and new committees are scheduled to launch in Samnam-eup and Sangbuk-myeon, including Beomseo-eup.

On the 30th, a public lottery for member selection will be held in Samnam-eup, and on the 6th of next month in Sangbuk-myeon.
