[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Song Jong-gu] Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, selected 9 outstanding departments and 5 excellent public officials through the 2022 Regulatory Reform Performance Evaluation conducted on all departments and public officials on the 29th.

The regulatory reform performance evaluation verifies the annual performance of departments and individuals based on six evaluation indicators linked to government joint evaluation indicators such as discovering regulatory reform proposal tasks, acceptance by central ministries, and completion of education. One best department, two excellent departments, and six encouragement departments are selected and rewarded, and outstanding employees are selected and given incentives.

The Investment Attraction Team, selected as the best department, proposed lowering the evaluation score for the feasibility of the local investment company support system to support the nuclear power industry and promote reinvestment, which led to an 'acceptance' result from the relevant ministry.

In addition, it was highly evaluated for actively engaging in regulatory reform by discovering and improving negative conversion tasks, and was selected as the best department.

The Masanhappo-gu and Hoewon-gu Environmental Sanitation Divisions, selected as excellent departments, proposed expanding the application target of other water pollution sources for seafood processing facilities and relaxing the education period for specialized emission maintenance technicians, respectively, achieving 'acceptance' from the relevant ministries.

Also, the Forestry Recreation Division, Masan Vehicle Registration Division, Masanhappo-gu Tax Division, Urban Planning Division, Agricultural Policy Division, and Park and Greenery Division, which led regulatory reform through the Regulatory Sinmungo and regular local government proposals resulting in 'acceptance' or 'selection as key tasks' by central ministries, received encouragement awards.

Along with this, 5 excellent public officials who led regulatory reform by discovering regulatory proposal tasks and inducing acceptance opinions from central ministries were selected and given personnel incentives.

First Deputy Mayor Ahn Kyung-won said, “The city has been recognized as a leading institution in regulatory innovation by receiving institutional awards for three consecutive years at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s regulatory innovation competition. We will continue to promptly discover and improve regulatory issues to relieve public inconvenience and revitalize the local economy. We provide incentives to departments and public officials who have worked hard to turn crises into opportunities and find hope within them, and we will do our best to invigorate the livelihood economy through regulatory reform in the future.”
