[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] LS Bio announced on the 29th that it has launched the hangover relief drink 'Hwakkaesu.'
Hwakkaesu, developed in collaboration with domestic health experts including doctors, Korean medicine doctors, and pharmacists, is fermented by blending 12 natural herbal ingredients such as Hovenia dulcis and Ji-guja, which are effective for hangover relief, and mate, bitter melon, and angelica, which provide recovery and vitality to the body. Each ingredient was concentrated and extracted at the optimal temperature and method to enhance efficacy. It is expected to quickly and effectively break down alcohol while boosting vitality.
Jin-gon Lee, CEO of LS Bio, emphasized, "Unlike the usual method of putting all ingredients in at once and extracting, the important difference is extracting each ingredient differently and then concentrating and mixing them later."
LS Bio has launched a range of health food products based on medicinal crops, led by D-ALFree, which specializes in blood sugar care and vitality improvement. They are determined to widely promote the core ingredient effects of LS Bio by developing Hwakkaesu. Based on product strength differentiated from existing hangover relief drinks, they also offer a full refund if no hangover relief effect is experienced within 14 days of use.
The domestic hangover relief drink market has grown to about 300 billion KRW annually. According to a survey by research firm Embrain targeting 1,000 people aged 19 to 59 with drinking experience, 74.7% answered "don't know" or "no effect" when asked about the effectiveness of hangover relief drinks. Only 25.3% responded that they were effective.
LS Bio developed Hwakkaesu by specializing the hangover relief function discovered through users of the diabetes improvement agent D-ALFree. They maximized the hangover relief function by directly testing with doctors, Korean medicine doctors, and pharmacists.
Dr. Kyunghoon Jang, a Korean medicine doctor, explained, "Hwakkaesu, made with good medicinal herbs, ferments the raw extract most appropriately, producing nitric oxide, which shows excellent efficacy."
