Uiryeong National Sports Center, Undoubtedly the 'Best' Among 50 Facilities Nationwide

Selected as an Excellent Public Sports Facility by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Expansion of Resident Convenience Facilities

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Wook] The ‘Uiryeong National Sports Center’ in Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam, has emerged as an outstanding sports facility among 50 sports facilities nationwide.

The Uiryeong National Sports Center was selected as an excellent public sports facility in the evaluation of the ‘2022 National Excellent Public Sports Facilities Selection Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation.

This evaluation was introduced to improve the operation of sports facilities and activate their use by selecting public sports facilities with excellent management, operational revitalization, and facility management.

Among the 50 sports facilities nationwide that applied for this contest, the Uiryeong National Sports Center was selected as an excellent facility after the first document screening and the second presentation screening.

The county views the continuous expansion of the latest facilities for residents’ convenience and the increase of sports programs desired by residents as the background for the award.

Operating since 2007, the Uiryeong National Sports Center consists of a basement floor and three above-ground floors, including a swimming pool, fitness center, stretching room, and indoor gymnasium.

In particular, through the 2019 contest project, a remodeling was carried out with an investment of 1 billion KRW, and this year, for the convenience of fitness center users, shower rooms and changing rooms were additionally installed on the second floor, old fitness equipment was replaced with the latest equipment, broadcasting facilities were maintained, CCTV was additionally installed, and wall painting and floor work were also carried out.

A representative of the Uiryeong National Sports Center said, “We will serve the residents with the best facilities and the best services to improve the quality of life of the residents, and we will also strive to revitalize community sports.”
