[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] LG Uplus announced on the 29th that it is developing a smart factory solution for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies in collaboration with Korea FANUC, a production automation specialist company. FANUC is a company that manufactures numerical control devices (CNC) used as machine tool controllers, servo motors, and machine tools and industrial robots utilizing these components.

LG Uplus plans to develop a smart factory solution for SMEs and mid-sized companies using machine tools by linking its own control platform with FANUC's machine tool controllers. When the platform and controller are linked, operational signals from the machine tools can be analyzed on the U+ Smart Factory platform to remotely monitor equipment status and detect any abnormalities. LG Uplus will collaborate with Korea FANUC, which has extensive field experience and equipment know-how, to secure AI-based machine tool equipment monitoring and anomaly detection technology, and provide services utilizing this technology to the machine tool industry field.

Jeon Young-seo, Head of LG Uplus Enterprise Service Development Lab, said, “To improve the pain points directly observed and heard from customers in the machine tool industry field, we will develop predictive maintenance technology for various CNC equipment such as lathes and milling machines, and continuously strive to provide more valuable services to customers.”
