The World's Busiest Conductor, Paavo J?rvi, Comes to Korea

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, led by "the world's busiest conductor" Paavo J?rvi, will hold a concert in Korea.

Gyeonggi Arts Center announced on the 29th that the "Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie & Paavo J?rvi" concert will be held on December 13 at the Gyeonggi Arts Center Grand Theater. This performance is the second in the Gyeonggi Arts Center's "Overseas Excellent Works Series." Conductor Paavo J?rvi previously visited the Gyeonggi Arts Center in September with the Estonian Festival Orchestra, receiving great acclaim from the audience.

Paavo J?rvi is a conductor from Estonia. He grew up in a prestigious musical family where his father, younger brother, and sister are all musicians. His father, Neeme J?rvi, and youngest brother, Kristjan, are renowned conductors, while his sister Marika is an active flutist.

Paavo J?rvi grew up in the United States after following his father, who fled Estonia for the U.S. due to political reasons. From a young age, he frequently attended concert halls and participated in orchestra rehearsals, nurturing his dream of becoming a conductor. His name "Paavo" was given with the hope that he would resemble the legendary Finnish conductor Paavo Berglund.

He currently serves as the artistic director of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, principal conductor of Japan's NHK Symphony Orchestra, and principal conductor of the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra. The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, which will share the stage with him, is considered one of the world's finest chamber orchestras.

The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie is a chamber orchestra based in Bremen, Germany, and Paavo J?rvi has been its artistic director since 2004. Having worked closely together for a long time, the conductor and orchestra are expected to deliver a flawless performance on this stage. At the concert on the 13th, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie will perform Haydn's "Symphony No. 96" and Beethoven's "Symphony No. 8."

Violinist Clara Jumi Kang will appear as a soloist. Clara Jumi Kang has won numerous international competitions, including the Indianapolis Competition and the Sendai Competition, and continues to perform with renowned orchestras and conductors across Asia and Europe. She is loved by classical music fans both domestically and internationally for her precise and elegant performances. At this collaboration with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, she will perform Beethoven's "Violin Concerto in D major."
