Signing of a Joint Cooperation Agreement for Collaborative Response to Complex Maritime Accidents by Three Organizations
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Cheol-hoon] Jeonnam Yeosu Maritime Police Station (Chief Park Je-su) announced on the 29th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority and the Yeosu branch of the Korea Tugboat Cooperative to strengthen cooperation and joint response to maritime accidents.
According to Yeosu Maritime Police, the MOU was conducted in a non-face-to-face manner, and in response to the complex changes in types of maritime accidents, it aims to strengthen the cooperation system among related organizations and jointly respond to emergencies by utilizing available assets.
It also aims to establish an effective distribution system for alcohol-resistant fire extinguishing foam for handling marine fire accidents and to enhance mutual exchange and cooperation among the organizations.
The main contents of the MOU include Yeosu Maritime Police Station and Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority promoting the stockpiling of alcohol-resistant fire extinguishing foam, mobilizing all disaster resources in case of an accident, and the Tugboat Cooperative supporting the accident site with port tugboats equipped with firefighting and towing facilities.
Park Je-su, Chief of Yeosu Maritime Police, said, “We hope that this MOU will serve as a great help in proactively preventing large-scale disasters by enabling the maritime police, port authority, and tugboat cooperative to cooperate and respond to complex maritime accidents.”
