Seoul City to Recruit 250 College Students for Winter Vacation Part-Time Jobs

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 29th that it is recruiting 250 university student part-time workers who can experience Seoul city administration and earn tuition money during the winter vacation. University students wishing to work can apply through the ‘Seoul City’ app and website from the 5th to the 9th of next month.

Every year, Seoul provides university students residing in Seoul with the opportunity to work for about a month at Seoul city departments and business offices. With a comfortable working environment and the chance to experience city administration, satisfaction is high, and the average recruitment competition rate over the past three years has been 40:1, making it very popular among university students.

Eligibility varies by selection type. Of the total 250 recruits, 175 general selections are for university students (enrolled or on leave) registered as residents in Seoul as of the announcement date or enrolled or on leave at universities located in Seoul. The 75 special selections are for university students registered as residents in Seoul as of the announcement date who are recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security, low-income class, registered disabled persons, from families with three or more children, contributors to Seoul city administration, North Korean defectors, multicultural families, or national veterans under relevant national veterans laws.

The first round of selection for eligible candidates will be conducted by computerized lottery by job and region, with the first selected candidates announced on the 16th of next month. The submission period for supporting documents is three days from December 19 to 21. If supporting documents are not submitted within the deadline or if the application details differ from the facts after the first selection announcement, the selection will be canceled, so caution is required.

After reviewing the supporting documents, the final selected workers will be individually notified on the 29th of next month. They will be assigned to each department considering departmental requests, applicants’ specialties and majors, and distance from residence. Meanwhile, autonomous districts recruit separately with different recruitment and working periods, so inquiries about university student part-time jobs in each district office should be directed to the resident’s district office.
