New Candidate for Gwangju Bank President Appointed: Vice President Ko Byung-il Selected

[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Ko Byung-il, the current vice president, has been appointed as the next candidate for Gwangju Bank president.


According to the financial sector on the 29th, the Gwangju Bank Executive Candidate Recommendation Committee confirmed Vice President Ko as the new candidate for Gwangju Bank president. Earlier, the CEO Candidate Recommendation Committee of JB Financial Group's subsidiary had appointed Vice President Ko as the next candidate for Gwangju Bank president following the resignation of the initially appointed Song Jong-wook, the current Gwangju Bank president.


Born in 1966 in Gwangju Metropolitan City, Vice President Ko graduated from Kumho High School and majored in Economics at Chonnam National University. He joined Gwangju Bank in 1991 and has held various positions including Branch Manager of Imbangul-daero Branch, Baegundong Branch Manager, Head of Personal Sales Strategy Department, Head of General Planning Department, Vice President of Sales Headquarters 1, and is currently serving as Vice President of the Management Planning Headquarters (CFO) and the Fund Market Headquarters.


Vice President Ko will be officially appointed as the 14th president of Gwangju Bank after the shareholders' meeting. His term will begin on January 1 of next year and last for two years.
