Paulo Bento, head coach of the South Korea national football team, encouraged his players after the match against Ghana, saying, "(In terms of content) it was a good enough game to win." The team lost 2-3 in their second group stage match of Group H at the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup, held on the 28th (Korean time) at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar. Although Jo Gyu-seong (Jeonbuk) fought hard by scoring two goals in the second half when they were trailing 0-2, they conceded the winning goal to Mohammed Kudus (Ajax).

After the match, Coach Bento strongly protested to referee Anthony Taylor (England) and received a red card. He could not accept the referee ending the game immediately after the team earned a corner kick. As a result, he was unable to attend the official post-match press conference and will be banned from the bench for the third match against Portugal on the 3rd of next month. On that day, assistant coach Sergio attended the official press conference in his place.

In a post-match broadcast interview, Coach Bento said, "I am dissatisfied with the result, but satisfied with the content. I am proud of the players." Regarding the match content, he expressed regret, saying, "We conceded due to a foolish defensive mistake, but there were opportunities to change the result." He added, "It is hard to see this as a fair result. Even a draw would have been a relatively fair outcome." About the remaining match against Portugal, he pledged, "We will prepare to achieve the best possible result. It has become a difficult situation in a tough group, but we will keep trying until the end."
