[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] On the 28th (Korean time) at the Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, during the second match of Group H in the 2022 Qatar World Cup group stage against Ghana, the South Korean national team conceded two goals in the first half and attempted to recover two goals in the second half but ultimately lost 2-3 after conceding an additional goal.

The early flow of the match was dominated by the South Korean team. Possession hovered around 60%, and the ball stayed mostly in Ghana's half. However, after the middle of the first half, Ghana launched a surprise attack, breaking down the defense consecutively.

In the 24th minute of the first half, Mohamed Salisu (Southampton) scored by pushing a cross that came up near the left touchline straight into the goal. Then, in the 34th minute of the first half, Mohammed Kudus (Ajax) redirected a cross from Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace) on the left side with a header, shaking the South Korean net. After that, the momentum shifted to the Ghanaian team, and South Korea struggled.

However, in the second half, South Korea regained control of the game flow. The substitution cards were effective. Following the immediate introduction of Na Sangho at the start of the second half, Lee Kangin, who came on for Kwon Changhoon in the 12th minute of the second half, created a scoring opportunity. In the 13th minute of the second half, Lee Kangin stole the ball on the opponent's left side and passed it to Cho Gue-sung inside the penalty box, who headed it in to record a goal. Three minutes later, Cho Gue-sung broke through the left space of the opponent and headed in a cross from Kim Jin-su to equalize. This is the first time a South Korean player has scored two goals in a single World Cup match.

However, Ghana's counterattack was fierce. Kudus shook the South Korean net again with a left-footed shot in the 23rd minute of the second half, putting the score back to 2-3. The South Korean team continuously pressed Ghana's goal to recover but ultimately failed to score. In the 30th minute of the second half, Lee Kangin's direct free-kick shot was saved by the Ghanaian goalkeeper. In the 39th minute of the second half, Kim Jin-su's shot went over the crossbar.

Even with an additional 10 minutes given, Lee Kangin and Son Heung-min kept delivering crosses into the box, but unfortunately, none resulted in a goal. At the end of the match, when the referee blew the final whistle without allowing a corner kick, Coach Bento strongly protested and received a red card.
