Seoul City Symposium to Support Young Injured Veterans

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 29th that it will hold the ‘1st Youth Wounded Veterans Counseling Center Symposium’ at the War Memorial of Korea to review the achievements of this year’s support projects for young wounded veterans in Seoul and share the operational plans for next year.

At the symposium held on the 30th, a report on the 2022 project achievements and the 2023 project plans will be presented. Through lectures by related experts and discussions among participants, the event aims to explore continuous and effective support directions for young wounded veterans in the future.

Before entering the venue, activities such as writing support postcards for young wounded veterans, distributing legal guides and casebooks for wounded veterans, and a special jazz performance for participants at the end of the first part will be held. In addition, the city enacted the Seoul Metropolitan Ordinance on Support for Young Disabled Veterans in October this year to establish a legal basis for supporting young wounded veterans.

Kim Sang-han, Director of Welfare Policy, said, “Starting with this year’s symposium, Seoul plans to further strengthen the cooperative system with key related institutions such as the Armed Forces Capital Hospital and the Seoul Regional Veterans Office to provide practical and sustainable assistance to young wounded veterans.”
