[Asia Economy Reporter Han Yeju] Serbia and Cameroon ended in a draw after an intense match exchanging 3 goals each.

Serbia and Cameroon drew 3-3 in the second match of Group G in the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup group stage held on the 28th at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, Qatar.

The opening goal belonged to Cameroon. In the 29th minute of the first half, Jean Charles Castelletto (27, Nantes) calmly converted a ball that spilled out from a corner kick chance into a goal in front of the goalpost. Serbia immediately counterattacked. In injury time of the first half, Strahinja Pavlovi? (21, Salzburg) and Sergej Milinkovi?-Savi? (27, Lazio) scored consecutive goals, leading 2-1 at halftime. Pavlovi? scored a header from a free-kick set-piece situation, and Milinkovi?-Savi? fired a left-footed mid-range shot from the penalty box front two minutes later. In the 8th minute of the second half, Aleksandar Mitrovi? (28, Fulham) scored an additional goal. In a chaotic situation in front of the goal, he lightly pushed the pass strongly laid off by a teammate into the net.

It seemed Serbia had taken control, but Cameroon did not give up easily. In the 18th minute of the second half, Vincent Aboubakar (30, Al Nassr) broke through the offside trap and scored to reduce the deficit. This goal was initially ruled offside but was confirmed as a goal after video review. Three minutes later, Cameroon's star striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (23, Bayern Munich) scored the equalizer. Similar to the previous goal, Aboubakar, who broke through the offside trap and received a through pass, passed to the unmarked Choupo-Moting, who converted it into a goal.

Both teams continued their offensive and defensive battle for victory, but no additional goals were scored, and the match ended. A total of 28 shots were made by both teams combined (Cameroon 13, Serbia 15).

Both teams, now with 1 draw and 1 loss each, recorded 1 point and will place their last hope for advancing to the round of 16 on the remaining third group stage match.

In Group G, Brazil and Switzerland (both with 1 win) will play their second group stage match at 1 a.m. Korean time on the 29th. The third matches will be held on December 3, with Brazil vs. Cameroon and Switzerland vs. Serbia.
